Separation

Separation I y Separation II

This body of work is an attempt to portray the difficulties surrounding separation. The immigrant grows apart from their loved ones and must learn to adapt to, and balance, everyday life without their close relatives present. Nowadays there are many modes of communication that can assist in keeping families connected, but there are certain moments that communication without physical contact does not fulfill one’s emotional needs. The immigrant must learn to adjust to these moments. The silhouettes in this piece are representative of a family and the immigrant is portrayed viewing them as if from a distance.
